BRAVEHEART MOVIE
Braveheart Movie is dedicated to the classic Braveheart Movie. Braveheart is an historical epic motion picture that was released in May 1995. The Film stars Mel Gibson as William Wallace, a historical figure who organized a Scottish rebellion against the occupying English and their king, Edward the 1st. When the film was released, it initial did very poorly at the box office, but word of mouth spread and the film was re-released around Christmas and performed great. Technically, the credits on the film read like whose whom of epic filmmaking. Here at Braveheart movie we hope to give you some unique information regarding this historical classic.
The English occupied Scotland in the 1200’s and ruled with an iron fist. Mel Gibson’s character, William Wallace, is forced by the cruel treatment of the local royalty to form a rebellion, and this is what the film dramatizes. Interestingly, the screenplay credit for Braveheart goes to a descendent of the real William Wallace, which lends a brand of authenticity. Plot wise the film is praised for its visceral filmmaking, with many viewers leaving the theater feeling like they just got a punch in the gut, but not even the Oscars could deny the success of the picture.
When the film was initially released in May 95 the marketing for the film was poor and the public had very little interest in the film. During its short run it gained a few loyal proponents and went on to do massive word of mouth business. This word of mouth encouraged producers to re-release the film in a wide release in Dec. of 99 to prepare for the coming awards season. It paid off, the film was a hit and went on to win best picture in 1995.
The film was shot by John Toll, and Scored by James Horner. Braveheart was directed by Mel Gibson who also stars.
